Our Accomplished Office Lighting Projects
459 LT COLLINS ST L12 TENANCY 2 SPEC SUITE
It was great to work with the team at Topic Interiors on the refurbishment of 5 floors plus the Lobby and EOT at 459 Lt Collins St. From design to completion, this project was completed in a tight time frame. Our ability to manufacture locally was a critical factor in achieving this. We were also able to leverage strong relationships with overseas suppliers to meet the manufacturing deadlines, and we are always creative logistically, so were able to land the right products in time. This fit-out has a fairly low ceiling height, so the design team decided to expose much of the ceiling to create a feeling of more space. We used our Australian-made GEO PS5075N Suspended profile over the workstations to put the light exactly where it was needed. Throughout the circulation, and breakout spaces, we used our GEO P60D.
This product is very effective in open ceiling areas due to its ability to illuminate the ceiling above, as well as the space below. This creates a sense of height in what is actually a low space and also highlights any feature colors that have been used on the ceiling. In the boardroom and reception, we used the Taurus. With sizes ranging from 370mm to 1200mm in diameter, these fittings look amazing either as stand-alone pieces or in clusters. This is only one shape in our Shapes range. These are circles, but we can also do Triangles, squares, hexagons, and almost any other custom shape. The splashback and shelves have been illuminated using our GEO S1708 profile. At only 8mm deep, this profile can be recessed into a 16mm shelf. The COB strip we use in this shallow profile has 600 LEDs per meter, giving a perfectly even light, even in the shallow profile.

550 Bourke St L8 Tenancy 1 Spec Suite
We enjoyed this opportunity to collaborate with the design team at Topic Interior to do another level of Spec Suites at 550 Bourke St. With two different tenancies, all with unique color palettes, this was a great opportunity for us to showcase our local manufacturing capability to create some unique lighting features. Our GEO PS5075 profile is the staple of our commercial linear offering. The boardroom pictured below featured a ceiling coffer painted in a fire engine red. We manufactured a rectangular fitting to fit in the ceiling coffer that was painted to match the ceiling finish. The curved joinery and feature ceiling called for a round feature light in this breakout space. The Taurus Fitting from our Shapes range makes for both an impressive feature on the ceiling, as well as performs as functional lighting.
Pictured below in 1200mm diameter, this fitting is available in a range of sizes, both suspended and surface mounted. Of course, we decided to make it blue to match the feature ceiling. If the designers take the time to select a feature ceiling color, we should always make the effort to make it a highlight by lighting it up. Traditional linear up-lighting methods struggle to give an even illumination across the ceiling, creating a lot of shadows. Our GEO PS60D Tubular Light creates a very even light across the ceiling plane, as well as a comfortable lighting level for the space below. Curves and circles – they always go well together. You can use them in round cutouts in the ceiling, over round meeting room tables, or even around hanging planters. Our Circles range is extremely flexible, with profile sizes as small as 40 x 60mm, up to 100 x 120mm in size, and from 450mm in diameter to 7 meters, these can be used in so many ways.
180 FLINDERS ST L4
We love the current trend of leaving the ceiling exposed in so many office fit-outs. It gives us a lot of scope to be creative, and do more with the lighting than if there is a standard T-Bar ceiling. Immediately on entering the reception we created interest by using L-shaped lengths of our GEO PS3537 profile, finished in anodized black to blend in with the black ceiling. This Australian-made profile can be made to custom sizes in our Melbourne factory, allowing us to remain creative with design, while still meeting tight project deadlines. The breakout area incorporated a custom-shaped luminaire from our Shapes range, that was manufactured to mirror the dimensions of the bench below. The rest of the space was illuminated using the LT1248 Track Spot.
360 ELIZABETH ST (MCT) L37
Design and construct a project for a floor at Melbourne Central with exposed ceilings throughout.
Custom illuminated suspended planters. Rather than use additional fittings, we decided to use the planters as a light source you keep the ceiling simple. The meeting room pendants were made from pieces of solid Tasmanian Oak. The building had some interesting angles leading to some of the desks not being perpendicular to the walls. It gave us a good opportunity to play with some angles and add some interest to the suspended profile. The board room ceiling feature gave us the opportunity to test out our paint shop, finishing the GEO 3537 profile in a distressed copper finish that was sympathetic to the recycled timber beams. We like different colors. Matching the profile in the collaboration space to the yellow of the walls, and the Up/Down lighting under the blue pipe feature enabled up to reinforce the interior designer’s intent.
